Meet Kelly Kennedy
I’m Kelly Kennedy, Business Development Coach, Entrepreneur, and Podcaster. I’ve lived every step of the journey I now help others navigate.
I started my career in sales at 18, and by 23 I was fully immersed in business development, learning how to build trust, win major accounts, and create real growth inside organizations. There was no roadmap, no formal training, and no clear path. Everything I learned came through experience, wins, losses, and years of figuring out what actually works.
As I grew in the field, I realized something was missing. There was no real place to learn business development properly. No central resource for people trying to build careers or grow companies through it.
On December 3, 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, I launched Capital Business Development. I built the firm to focus on what actually works. Not theory, but proven systems that help companies build pipelines, close more business, and grow with clarity and confidence.
Two years later, I launched The Business Development Podcast for the people who came after me. Through conversations with top performers, founders, and leaders, I continued learning in real time while sharing those lessons with others. Today, the show has grown to 333 episodes and more than 321,000+ downloads, ranked in the Top 100 in over 40 countries and listened to around the world. It has also earned multiple awards, including the 2023 Quill Podcast Award for Best Business Podcast, two 2024 w3 Silver Awards, and a 2025 Signal Award Bronze.
Through this work, I also built programs like Business Development Mastery and Capital Catalyst™, and founded The Catalyst Club, a private community for business leaders focused on growth, connection, and execution.
I also launched I Used To Work There, a storytelling podcast built around the kinds of workplace stories people never forget. In its first month alone, it reached more than 5,000+ downloads, and it is only getting started. It represents another side of what I build, platforms that connect deeply and stay with people long after they listen.
In the podcasting world, I’m also known as The Podfather™. I’ve also been called The Hope Dealer, because my work is not just about strategy. It is about helping people believe again. I combine proven systems with real experience, challenge, and support to help people grow.
This is not a finished story.
Everything I’ve built so far is still evolving, and I believe the next chapter will be the most impactful yet.

The Stern Truth with Marshall Stern
In this conversation with Marshall Stern, host of The Stern Truth, Kelly Kennedy breaks down what business development actually is and why it is often misunderstood.
Kelly explains how business development differs from sales, focusing on identifying the right opportunities, building trust based relationships, and creating long term revenue before a deal is ever closed. The discussion also dives into the realities of getting ghosted, why follow up remains one of the most underused growth tools, and how consistent, intentional outreach opens doors over time.
